Title: Parenting with Purpose — A Proverbs 22:6 Approach

Subtitle: Raising Children in Wisdom, Not Just Routine
As parents, guardians, and mentors, we often ask ourselves: Am I doing this right? The truth is, parenting doesn’t come with a manual—but it does come with a mandate.
Proverbs 22:6 reminds us:
“Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], and even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
That kind of training isn’t passive—it’s intentional, active, and grounded in Kingdom values. I recently came across a parenting resource that broke it down beautifully through the acronym P.A.R.E.N.T.I.N.G. and wanted to share it with you:
P.A.R.E.N.T.I.N.G. God’s Way
P – Purpose to PLEASE GOD!
Pray over everything. Be intentional. Your children will model what they see more than what they’re told.
A – ALWAYS acknowledge God.
Seek Him for wisdom in every parenting decision. His Word trumps trends.
R – Respect and relate.
Discipline without relationship breeds rebellion. Connect before you correct.
E – Exemplify what you teach.
Don’t just preach values—live them. Show what forgiveness, humility, and consistency look like.
N – NEVER enable or excuse poor behavior.
Don’t compromise Godly standards for temporary peace.
T – Talk… then LISTEN.
Your children’s voices matter. Don’t just hear—really listen.
I – Intentionally involve yourself.
Stay connected. Know what’s shaping their hearts, habits, and friends.
N – NEVER give up.
Even if the fruit isn’t instant, trust that the seed is working underground.
G – Give them JESUS daily.
Not just religion—relationship. Not just rules—revelation. Let Christ be the core of their upbringing.
Parents…
You’re not expected to be perfect, just present and prayerful.
Do your BEST… God will do the rest.
