Strength for the Stand: When Temptation Feels Like a Test of Loyalty

Posted in The Healing Room
There is a strength that doesn’t come from the gym or a motivational quote — it comes from surrender. From obedience. From the quiet refusal to let temptation dethrone purpose.
Psalm 110 reminds us of a King who sits in power because He first submitted.
“Sit at My right hand until I humble your enemies…” (Psalm 110:1)
This isn’t just about waiting on God to act. It’s about standing until He does.
Standing in purity.
Standing in discipline.
Standing in the middle of internal war.
When Strength is Saying No
Obedience isn’t always loud — sometimes it sounds like silence when your flesh wants to say “just this once.”
It’s choosing not to respond to pressure, not because you don’t feel it, but because you know what’s at stake.
Let’s be real:
Even when you’ve armored up… the battle still shows up at your doorstep — sometimes in the form of familiar comfort, affection, or a warm embrace. That’s when strength isn’t about resistance alone… it’s about remembrance.
You don’t just remember the command.
You remember the cost.
You remember who you were when God found you — and who you’re becoming now that you’ve been called.
Strength Isn’t the Absence of Struggle — It’s the Fruit of Surrender
Psalm 110:3 says:
“Your people will serve you willingly… your strength will be renewed each day like the morning dew.”
That dew represents daily refreshment — strength that comes in increments. Not all at once. Not enough for next week. But enough for today.
Enough to say:
I will not be touched by anything that threatens my calling.
I will not be wooed by what looks like love but carries delay.
I will not betray my healing for a moment of temporary comfort.
Final Reflection
Sometimes strength looks like moving out of the same house to preserve your peace.
Sometimes it looks like asking God to restore your mind after a night of war within.
That’s not failure.
That’s faithfulness.
Speak This Over Yourself:
“I am not weak because I feel it — I am strong because I won’t yield to it.
My strength is renewed like the dew.
My body is submitted.
My mind is guarded.
My destiny is secured.
I will not lose what God has crowned me with… just to feel what I already laid down.”
