The Battle You Can’t See: Breaking the Spirit Behind the Blow

Scripture Focus:

  • 1 Peter 5:8

  • John 8:16

  • Acts 9:1–9

  • Romans 8:11

There are some wounds in this season that have nothing to do with the person who swung.

They’re spiritual.

And today’s message reminded us: You’re not fighting people—you’re confronting the principality in them.

Elder Sheryln Williams ministered powerfully this morning about understanding the root of retaliation. She didn’t shout, but she slayed every invisible attack many of us have been trying to ignore. She reminded us that the real battle isn’t with your coworker, your child, your ex, or your friends—it’s with the spirit that entered the room behind them.

Key Takeaways:

  • The target isn’t you—it’s the breakthrough in you.

The enemy sends attacks not because you’re weak, but because you’re carrying something weighty.

  • Emotional hits are often spiritual setups.

The tension you feel is not always about now—it’s about next.

  • Discern the voice.

Just because someone is speaking doesn’t mean it’s them speaking.

“Know who and what you’re dealing with,” she said. Ask the Lord to reveal the spirit behind the energy.

  • The greatest battles happen when the greatest birthings are near.

If you’ve been crying more, battling fatigue, feeling misunderstood or misaligned—you are likely on the brink of a move of God.

Romans 8:11 reminds us:

“If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”

That means even when your body is tired, your spirit still knows how to rise.

Even when your emotions are low, the Holy Ghost still breathes power into your purpose.

Final Healing Insight:

Don’t just cry about the attack—confront the author of it.

Put your armor on. Ask God what you’re really battling.

Call that spirit out in prayer before you try to address it in person.

Because some of the conversations you’ve been rehearsing in your head were never meant to be had at all. They were meant to be cast out.

Reflection Prompt:

Lord, show me what spirit is behind the blow… and give me authority to cast it down, not just react to it.
