When Obedience Makes You a Target

ree

Scripture Focus: Psalm 119:153–159 (NIV)

“Look on my suffering and deliver me, for I have not forgotten your law... See how I love your precepts; preserve my life, Lord, in accordance with your love.”(Psalm 119:153 & 159)

Sometimes obedience puts you in uncomfortable places. Not because you did something wrong—but because you finally started doing it right.

Psalm 119:153–159 is a cry from a servant who knows they’ve walked in the truth, yet finds themselves surrounded by opposition, pressure, and misunderstanding. This portion of the passage reminds us that alignment doesn’t always bring applause—sometimes it brings warfare.

🔥 What This Passage Reveals:

  • Verse 153: “Look on my suffering and deliver me, for I have not forgotten your law.”Obedience doesn’t exempt you from affliction. But it does give you access to deliverance. God watches closely those who walk according to His Word—even when the road is hard.

  • Verse 155: “Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek out your decrees.”There is a clear difference in outcomes between those who honor God’s ways and those who ignore them. Don’t envy the ease of the rebellious—God sees who’s truly submitted.

  • Verse 157: “Many are the foes who persecute me, but I have not turned from your statutes.”Whew. That line alone could be today’s declaration. Even when surrounded, misunderstood, or attacked, you stayed rooted. That’s spiritual maturity.

  • Verse 159: “See how I love your precepts; preserve my life, Lord, in accordance with your love.”When we love God’s Word, He responds with preservation. This isn’t just about physical protection—this is about spiritual longevity, favor, and legacy.

💡 Reflection:

If you’ve been asking God, “Why is it so heavy when I’m doing what You told me to do?” —this is your answer:

Obedience doesn’t prevent the fight. It proves you’re worth the resistance. And it positions you for preservation.

🙏🏾 Blog Prayer:

Lord, help me endure what comes with alignment.Remind me that even when obedience is painful, it is never pointless.Preserve me—not just for survival, but for significance.Let my posture reflect Your precepts, even when the pressure increases.I am Yours. I will not turn.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
